The Free Offer of the Gospel

  • Believe that you “have sinned and come short of the glory of God,” that you stand justly condemned by God’s holy law and that you cannot do or offer anything of yourself to God to obtain forgiveness for your sins (Romans 3:10-23).
  • Believe that “the wages of sin is death,” eternal damnation in the lake of fire and eternal separation from God (Romans 6:23; Revelation 20:11-15).
  • Believe that in spite of your sin against him, God loves you and provided for your eternal salvation from his wrath and judgment upon your sin by becoming a man (the Lord Jesus Christ) through the virgin birth, living a sinless life, dying and shedding his holy blood in your place on the cross of Calvary, and then rising bodily from the grave for your justification (Romans 4:24-5:2).
  • Repent and trust Christ alone as your Saviour from God’s wrath and judgment upon your sin, apart from any works of your own to merit salvation.
  • Believing that Christ was “God manifest in the flesh” (I Timothy 3:16) and God’s perfect and complete substitutionary, atoning sacrifice for your sin, ask God to save you, confessing your sinful condition, and asking God for forgiveness for your sin through the shed blood, death, burial, and bodily resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.  It can be a simple prayer like this: “God be merciful to me a sinner” (Luke 18:13-14).
